supposed to be the fastest hybrids out there.

near zero maintenance gear hub and belt.

anyone used the Alfine 8 ?

what are they like, only 8 gear and one chain ring means she must be limited badly somewhere?

Hmmm dont think it will be the fastest hybrid at nearly 25lbs! If you want speed get a road bike/gravel cx bike

Not really a fan of belt drives, but then again i've never run one chaines always seem fine for me, but I'm willing to change my mind!

I did try an Alfine a while back, gears were fine for commuting, maybe on longer fast paced rides it would bug me, but fine for short runs and everyday riding. The weight did bother me a bit as they add an quite extra bit of weight. Also not sure how much of a PITA it would be to fix a puncture as well .

yeah, I'm leaning towards bikes like the regular BMC AC01/02 with 105 or Tigara or the Giant FastRoad SLR

basically flat bar road bikes with a little bit more tyre clearance

Faster than the Adventure bikes, and only a little slower than their drop bar brothers.

Alfine 8 - got one on one of my bikes. Absolutely fine. I specified the ratios and I have no problem with top and bottom end plus the 6 gears in the middle getting me around the chilterns when I want to.

It makes a mockery of having 22 speed systems. you really don't need that many in my opinion! You'll be fine.
