Does anyone know where the rear light units come from and has anyone found a supplier? I seem to have a little OEM design, or pair mismatch, issue.

OK, thanks.

I wasn't looking to change the design but these lights look interesting - does anyone think they'd need drilling - looks like they'd bolt straight in?

I found these for £144 a pair incl del - maybe a bit bling-bling?!

www.dcp-shop.co.uk/buy-car-accessories/product_info.php?cPath=1_26_1439_1447&products_id=8085

And these similar one's for £105 (delivered) - actually also found some others of this type for less money too ...

Here's a standard pair for a tenner!

Chav?... who gives a F***?...they're a damn sight better than than the standard items. If they bolt straight in I'm 'avin 'em!(The first ones)

Hhhmmm, I like the afterburners better. Not sure about all the chromey bits (on my dark colour anyway).

Think they look much better, not 'Chav' at all IMO, don't the USA cars have similar std. items anyway?

which look better than the UK ones, also, I think someone fitted them to their UK Noble just before they sold it / upgraded to the M400, can't remember who sry..

I think there is something a little ironic about "chavving" up a car like a Noble, ie one that is well beyond the reach of your average chav.

I am all for it, but will hedge my bets and wait to see them done first.

I thought the afterburners look great, but the rear clam requires some augmentation to get them to fit meaning that you could never go back.

Bit like a vasectomy.

Would like to see them in guys and see if they do just "bolt on". I would definatly get some then as you could just swop back at anytime.

Another thought from my own chav days. I tinted the rear lights on my MG Metro with an aerosol spray and it looked great.

It just darkens them a few shades. Not sure if there are any downsides to doing this.

Just like this one in fact.

Lol we have this discussion every 6 months, although last time there weren't any lexus style ones available!

I'm inclined to do what was suggested last time round this was discussed and use a red tint on the standard lights on al areas except the reverse/fog light. Someone mocked it up last time and it looked a lot more modern. Masking it off will be a bit of a pain though as removing them looks like a chisel job!

The Lexus style lights are for MK1 5door Hatch Mondeo, the ones fitted to the M12 are from the Saloon version which are differant shape.
I think the Afterburner type from Marcos are the only aftermarket replacement.

Out of interest chaps what sort or replacement rear lights would you be looking for? Something 'Lexus' style or something a little simpler like a dark tinted or clear version of the standard lights?

Best Regards
Matt

Something a bit less bling than the lexus lights. The US ones are nice.

Maybe a little darker.

I have seen a set on a tvr where the colout inside the unit is painted to match the body. That looked great.

I like the afterburners and would definatly fit them if they were cheaper and a direct replacement. I would not want to cut and paste them incase it hindered resale.

To be honest Matt, whilst I don't like the stock lights, I can think of better things to spend the money on. I can see myself trying 10 quid and an hour of my time tinting, but not >150 quid on retrofits.

Rob,
The Hatch version goes back the wing further, looks much the same from behind. Lots of company's seem to offer a replacement for the hatch but iv'e yet to find one for the saloon.

Resale's not a problem (or it wasn't for me when I sold my M12 on!).

Refitting the old ones really isn't that hard (you just need to fiberglass in suitable mounts for them), if you fitted them the first time around, then you'll have the skills to fit the old ones back in.
