I've been considering taking a look at some smartwatches but I notice that there's a large variety of design in terms of how chunky they are. To that end I'd want to try some on before spending a not insignificant amount of money on one.

When I've wandered into the usual tech oriented shops - PC World etc, their selection is usually dire - maybe an iWatch and FitBit if you're lucky.

Any suggestions on where I can actually find a decent range that I can look at in the flesh? I feel like I'm missing something really obvious here!

Sorry, should have specified I'm an Android user.

I'd consider a FitBit blaze, but I'm also interested in the Android Wear offerings.

(I've had a play with a friend's iWatch, it's a nice bit of kit, but I'm not interested in buying into the "iRange".)

I was very keen on an LG Urbane but couldn't find one in retail stock within 70 miles to look at - I was worried about it feeling too big.

Ordered one from Amazon, tried it, too big, sent back and full refund. Only paid for original postage to me which was fair enough. All done and dusted within a week.

That's one of the ones I'm interested in, but likewise I'm pretty sure it'll be too big.

What did you end up with?

I have a Samsung Gear S2. Really love the functionality, but just can't justify giving it wrist time ahead of a real watch. In particular, turn by turn nav when I'm cycling to somewhere unfamiliar. Gentle buzz on the wrist and I look down to see a right or left turn symbol. Fantastic. Didn't really use the health stuff, although it worked perfectly well. Heartrate tracking, cycling time, steps taken, all that jazz.

Oh well, it's going up for sale!

Selfridges basement. They have a good selection.
