C70 T5 SE Lux convertible MY08.

Hi all,
On the back of the usual "which car?" thread that I posted a while back, someone suggested a Volvo C70 convertible.
I wanted a family car to have fun over the summer with the OH, little one and our pooch.
Ticked the boxes of comfortable, wafty, safe and steel roof. I used to have a soft top (mx5)
and it wasn't the most secure as I was always worried about someone cutting the roof.
Spec is:
2.5 Turbo (230bhp)
Auto with semi automatic
Leather
Xenons
Heated seats
Dynaudio package (900w and lovely)
6 CD changer in dash with aux in arm rest
Cruise
Reverse sensors, puddle lights etc.
Ex Volvo demonstrator and one owner since new.
Full volvo service history Including recent full service and health check.
Average MPG is low 20's. That should increase a bit I hope, (probably not by a lot though)
My other car is an R53 MCS. Which means I now have both a turbo and a supercharged car

I sadly can't take credit for the sourcing, I have a brother with a matching one in black, same MY etc. He gave me the heads up.
Pleased with it so far (two weeks). The roof operation is a thing to behold! Our little one said it reminded her of transformers.
Very nice place to be with the heated seats and dynaudio on.

The two cars are almost opposites of each other really.
The volvo is quiet, loads of oomph and a good place to cover lots of miles. Great in a straight line, feels big and heavy. Fingertip light steering, doesn't at all feel like a car you'd want to hustle in bends though.
The MCS has the whine of the supercharger with a Dave F airbox, and is like a go cart. Not all that great for any longer trips, amazing fun for local back roads.
Neither does over 25 mpg yet, luckily I work from home which was one of the deciding factors

I am seriously looking into one of these with the T5 lump.
the thing is, on the pictures it looks so bloody enormous. Is it really THAT big in comparison to e.g. an E93?
About the engine: How does it go? Hows the sound and how easily can power gains be archieved?

Yes - they're as big as they look.
The turning circle is such that you'd need a 3-point-turn on a runway
The seats are great
The gearbox is a rather sluggish 5spd
The engine is fine but it's a HEAVY car
Parts are pretty reasonable because a lot of it is Ford Focus (engine included..)

They're still handsome.

Turning circle is 38.7 ft. (Not sure how this compares, but it feels wide)
Our little one is ten, and she is invisible in it with the roof down. The lines with the roof down rise towards the back. This is no bad thing as it adds to her comfort on longer roofless journeys.
I wouldn't know about power gains. The T5 seems more than up to the job but you're aware how heavy the car feels. (Again, no bad thing I think).

I've had a 2008 D5 manual C70 for 2 years and about 50,000 miles. It's been a great daily, I bought a D5 in an attempt to be sensible due to my mileage but I do wish I'd got a T5. Once it gets to 80/90k you'll want to consider replacing the dampers as they seem to be totally f
ked by that point even on a car doing motorway miles. Mine has an MTE remap and a colleague has a 2007 T5 manual with a RICA map and in both cases it improved the car enormously.
I also took the very pretty 18" wheels off mine and picked up some OEM 17" to improve the ride. Sometimes regret it as the SE Lux 18" wheels look greatl.
