Now we all love a shed, we all love bangernomics and everybody loves a luxobarge, so after a perusal of the old Facespace on a selling site I came across an E39 for sale, so I read the replies as it was cheap to start with, and it was about 15 replies of "I'll have it" ..."SFS!" eventually the guy seemed to get annoyed, someone tried to chip him £150 he replied back with £175 it's yours.
Well at £175 and 20 minutes of it still being classed as for sale I messaged the bloke, we had a chat and by all accounts he was annoyed that so many people wasted his time, few hours later I had a courier arranged to collect it and PayPal'd the money over to him.
Now I normally wouldn't take a punt on something like this, but she is a babe, ignoring the colour which is horrid (imo) and she does have one issue, whilst she drives she thunders oil out the gearbox, no real issue as I have a spare gearbox and torque converter here for my old 528i, hopefully have it fixed in a few hours, I thought about breaking it, but she really is clean.

The question is what to do with her though, I have 3 of the buggers here already and I am a Tourer man myself, definitely have to fix her and get her driving, but do I keep it and use it as a pool car or sell it on?

Looks a bargain. I love a good old luxo barge. Maybe the oil cooler is fooked and could be an easy fix without even taking the box out? I had this issue on an E46.
You want to check the MOT history though, I did, sad I know! Looks like she has had a shave. Not that it matters much at this money!!

I couldn't leave it there for £175, not too worried about it being clocked as it will either get broken or I'll sort the box out and sell it on, as a cheap runabout for someone, I'm not going to be selling a second hand TC any time soon, just make people aware of it's history, mostly depends on the condition of it really, the shell from what I have seen is very good, it has arches and bootlid for starters, but definitely close to £1000 in parts in the car, or close to £1000 as a working car, but as a working car I don't have to wait for parts to shift.
What I could do is cut the springs on it and make it undriveable, fit some loud exhaust, tint the lights, screw some s
t all over it from a car boot sale, sticker it up with words and phrases like "stancelife" and "yolo" maybe even some "hoonigan" stickers, a Paul Walker and McRae sticker, chuck some paint stripper over it and demand £6000 because modified stanced show car, one off!!11124320jojowejd!!!21!! 
As for colour, it is actually a very light bluey green, similar colour to one I owned a long time ago which is also classed as green

Ignoring the mileage irregularity it still looks like a hell of a car for the money, I like the colour /interior combination to!
Here's mine, paid £225 for it last August. I'm prepared to admit that the colour has really grown on me.

Frighteningly true. I've been tempted to do it to mk1/2 polos. The silly buggers buy 'em too

Quite, good example really http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MK2-Golf-Gti-8v-Clean-Ex...It's as clean as it looks though...with it's rusty wing and petrol flap, the white bumper and scabby bootlid.

Yeah got it, just not had any time to get into it, looked it over and it's actually pretty good to be fair to it.
Leather hasn't worn at all, everything works and anything that doesn't work did work before.
Seller neglected to mention a few things like how he robbed the temp sensor, didn't put any of the arch liners back in, robbed the horns and left my his broken ones in the boot, spare wheel and most of the tools and the mud flaps, which isn't that much of an issue because I can just polish the marks left by them, but he hasn't put any of the clips back in that hold the arch liner on.
Other than that extra work that I have to do there to put it back on the road, it's actually a very good car, headlights aren't clouded, looks like it has been well looked after, just trying to figure out how to get the box out now, logistics wise as I currently don't have any ramps, do have some just nowhere to erect them.
Definitely TC seal gone though, selects all gears fine just have to rev the bks off it to get it to move, no clunks, bangs or terrible noises.
Only other issue is sourcing a new wing, couple of glacier green cars have come up for breaking, and people either wont post the wing, or want far too much for it, cheapest I have got is £60 and I can get one of my spare wings painted for that, I can buy a pair of Avus blue wings for £10. I'll get some decent pictures up later

Well I'm in two minds about it, nothing really to pilfer, my car is much better, but the shell on this is amazing, one bit of rot and that's the front wing, could do with some cash and half tempted to break it and get the 540 rolling shell I've found.

Just a thought - not much point having a safety checking system which will fail you for a missing bulb but pass what is an obvious attempt to defraud/mislead??
Take your point, but the MOT doesn't test a seller's integrity, just the car as presented.
I bought a car with replacement clocks once (indicating a lower mleage than the reality). The seller told me the originals had broken, and he had pics before and after the swap. I was happy.

Not a bad buy, to be fair, and I've had half a dozen of these, never paying more than £450 for one, and all with low miles and fsh.
My friend has recently bought a 740i, 4.4 litres of pure joy, and with 130k. recorded it stands him at.... £250.
Silly money, especially as he could sell the engine alone for ££££

Well a bit of news, I moved her into my little compound for breaking as I just don't have the time to fix it and someone offered to buy it, explained all about the mileage issues, still runs but gearbox has lost its fluid so doesn't drive, hashed out a deal on it and she's been sold for a nice £700
