944 alarm

944 alarm problems, I have just put in a replacement ECU alarm unit but the same problem occurs i.e alarm goes off with ignition on this appears to happen intermittently. If the car does run the alram does not cut the engine off or reduce power. I guess it could be one of several issues (micro switches, earth!!?) not sure where to start.
Any thoughts ........
