Went to the Mille Miglia a few weeks ago, after the finish, walking round Brescia I spotted this parked up in one of the squares I don't know if it is genuine but it looked it to me.

According to the plate, it was first registered on 1/1/1967, but the power is only 96Kw....seems a bit low for an R, more like a converted E.

My memory is fuzzy on this, but was there such a thing as an 'E' back in 1967?

I'm no Porsche geek, and you are correct, E was introduced the following year, in 1968. This would then make the model pictured an L, with the Type 901/06 engine (which had exactly 96Kw).
For reference the "proper" R had 154Kw.
