Any Snus enthusiasts on PH?
Discussion
Banned in a lot of countries due to the mouth cancer it causes.
Verdict is still out on whether it's as dangerous as smoking; which in itself usually kills off one in three users.
You are basically pressing a bag of chemicals, including carcinogens, against the delicate lining of your mouth in order to get a tiny 'high'.
Also indicated for pancreatic cancer -which is very hard to treat - and other gastric cancers.
Gum disease and high blood pressure but not lung cancer or COPD - as you don't smoke it.
Enjoy!

Have you links to the things you have mentioned? Verdict is still out on whether it's as dangerous as smoking; which in itself usually kills off one in three users.

Hi, just have a Google. I remember from a couple of years back there was quite a good study done in one of the Scandinavian countries - can't remember if it had a group of 10 or 20 thousand?
Also there was some FDA advice a couple of years back - the manufacturers were trying to get the warning labels reduced. It was on FDA bulletins I used to recieve.
Certainly banned in most of Europe and I think Russia as well.
Anecdotally, I know one friend (from Sweden) , used it for quite a few years and developed these awful mouth ulcers that took a long time to clear up. Stuff had basically burnt holes in his gums....looked bloody terrible...yuck!
Not something I ever tried.
Some of them smell absolutely lovely when you open the tin.
It is/was in fairly common use by forestry workers, and I should imagine oil/gas rigs.
Anywhere the more 'standard' forms of nicotine intake is banned or seasonally unsafe.
I understood it was quite popular in Sweden and Norway still.
Chewing tobacco is still on offer from British tobacconists.

Yeah just light and mellow. I like it when I have a few drinks. Ordered 10 tins and got a couple free.
Just out of interest, no skin off my nose either way, but did you read the information available re the dangers of this product? If so, why did you order ten tins (plus free ones!) - feel the risk is over-stated, don't think it could happen to you?
I'm just curious.... thanks.

You won't find that many Snus users on PH because the sale of it in the EU is banned outside of Sweden. You can import it if you know where to look but I don't suppose many do.
It's for sale (and popular) in Norway too.
Used to work for a Swedish company, the boss quit smoking 12 years earlier when he had kids, but changed to Snus isntead. I smoke, 15'ish a day. I tried some snus and it gave me a banging headache for about an hour and I was dizzy for about 10 minutes. Angry stuff - good for flights though

Maybe he decided it was his risk and his choice, despite what the information available may state.
He probably did, I'm just intrigued as to the decision making process. Why do smokers smoke knowing the risk, why do people use motorbikes despite knowing the risks etc.
Personally I have never heard of Snus, I don't know what it is and don't care what it does.

I'm interested in his business because I just find this sort of thing, risk, of interest.
I had heard of Snus and have seen one friend suffer some ill effects from the product.
I'm not criticising the OP just genuinely intrigued as to the decision making process....
Does that help?

I've tried it a few times, usually when sloshed, in Scandinavia.
I'm a non-smoker. The smell of snus* is really nice. The sensation of burning on the gums is horrendous though.

- Amusingly, spellchecker wants to change this work to anus...
Shame you spotted the spellchecker change.
