I saw this article this morning

http://newsthump.com/2016/06/20/experts-to-be-repl...

and for some reason it reminded me of a number of PH posters and I would like to ask you

In all your time of posting on PH, have you ever....................

1) changed your mind or just continued to insist a thread that you are right in angrier and angrier posts

2) Apologised for something you have posted

3) Insulted someone for not having the same option as you

I follow posts more than I post and it does seem that these days there is more arguments and insults than actual discussion for example Brexit and Top Gear where eveything is black or white, good or bad with nothing in between.

Why is this?

Is it a man thing?

I think we are all guilty of being a bit of a tt online.
I find myself getting my claws into individual users sometimes because they have a habit of posting utter crap on various threads and yet somehow people believe them. That's a bit annoying.

If I am genuinely wrong or have been horrible unnecessarily I will generally apologise. (unless I am being funny).

I think PH is generally a very good forum. We have such a huge variety of people from different backgrounds it's a great place to get a good variety of opinion. Generally the masses are right I would say (although, note I said generally).

People don't like their long held opinions challenged and get easily offended when they're made fun of. Some call long held opinions 'schema' and these views of the world can actually shape our character - according to psychologists - so you can see why some people may over-react when long-held beliefs are directly questioned or ridiculed. Throw in a snide insult or two and BINGO - there's PH!

Not really changed my mind but I did continue to insist that a plane on a conveyor belt wouldn't take off (knowing that it would) for amusement at the increasingly exasperated responses.

2) Apologised for something you have posted
Yep

3) Insulted someone for not having the same option as you
I don't remember doing it but may well have done, I'd like to think it would have triggered (2)

1) Yes, several times someone who has known more about the subject than I have has put me right or made me change my mind by giving facts I wasn't aware of.

2) Yes, if I've got something wrong, misunderstood something or if I've insulted the wrong person.

3) Yes, often. If people don't want their beliefs and opinions laughed at, they shouldn't hold such laughable beliefs and opinions. Serves 'em right.

I find myself, on occasion, starting to write an angry or irritated retort-like reply to someone on PH (also other sites....) when I disagree with their point of view - and then get 2 lines in only to realise it's really, REALLY not worth my time and stop, delete the message and carry on with my life.

People on the Internet are spectacular and I honestly think a lot of them would argue with their own reflection.

Errr, what evidence do you have to support that claim? Ridiculous post. Hand your driving licence back.

ok, I'll bite: yes, or well I would have liked too.

I was the member of a zombie fan group on facebook, dedicated to a particular author.

Great group, great people. Bit of a laugh in all honesty.

However the subject of tattoos came up. Personally I find them for the deranged, mentally simple moron.

The warning signs were there to me, but still.....

middle aged woman who has had a relationship break up- posts "fancy a tattoo to signify some bkss moment in her life- what should I get ?"

a few people like me, say "nothing", or like me "nothing, or if your going to get one, at least have a great physique- not a great wobbly body, they don't look bad then".

cue, loads of people, all posting their own appalling bits of art work. massive thread.

I, foolishly say: " in all honesty of everything posted, only 4-5 are beautiful well thought out pieces of work. The rest look like you've saved up £50 on benefits, gone to the tattoo man and said" give me £50's worth of generic crap please".

I cannot begin to tell you how badly that went down.

still I couldn't apologise and never had chance too- they banned me from the group !!

Oh well.

No.
Neither have I, I have only ever used the exact amount required and I think I have always referred to them by their correct spelling with two LL
