I'm looking for a 911-997- Gen1 Carrera S which will enable me to join in some of your conversations!
I'm looking for a manual coupe (not convertible) and (here's the kicker) I'd ideally like one that has had the Hartech engine modifications.
Q- I've seen some offered for sale with westwood liners fitted; does anyone have any experience of these?

I'm located in Manchester so something within easy commuting distance for viewing would be preferred (not essential, but more chance of me turning out), and I'm a realist & will consider up to 80k of mileage with service history at combination of OPC & specialist.
However as I know nothing about these cars; I will be getting a 3rd party inspection carried out by a specialist before parting with my hard earned- so if you have any known problems, then let's not waste each other's time.
I don't have a diesel Mondeo,a time share in Tenerife, or anything similar to part-ex, I was going to use money if that works?.
cheers, Paul bye

http://www.hartech.org/porsche_996_997_Boxster_car...

and put your email in the little box on the page

you get an email a few minutes after they list a car the're selling, just as well because all their stock sells v v fast. Ie a day or so after listing

OR:

buy a normal C2S cheap cheap cheap and pay Hartech £8k for the job to be jobbed

Bought my 2006 997.1 C2S 2 years ago for £22k @ 45k miles. Got it inspected (including bore scope) spent £3k on items identified in the inspection. Now at 60k. Agree that you should budget £2k pa for servicing and rolling maintenance. But what a car. And given relatively low depreciation the overall costs of owning the car are very reasonable. Will never sell this car. Very special and an absolute bargain. Buy privately and get it inspected so you start off with a car that is sorted.

The quest is over!
I am now the proud owner of a 2004 Gen1 3.8S.
By sheer chance I saw this advertised for sale on PH in the "997turbo" category by mistake. advertised as having Hartech rebuild but was located 180mi from me, with no chance of me getting over to see it. I e-mailed the owner just to ask for advice (since he'd suffered the dreaded bore scoring) only to find the car was still at Hartech;-15m up the road from me, post rebuild. It transpired he was going to sell the car last October but it was smoking badly. Sent it to a local garage for repair in order to retain some value. They made a balls of it and it threw a rod on start up. it then got trailered to Hartech for major surgery (new block & associate bits, all liners, bearings, pistons, rings, IMS, clutch, slave cyl, etc etc were replaced)
so its now on my drive it by no means perfect, it needs some minor jobs doing & some TLC. I'm happy & so's the MRS!
