Why Book Private Camping?
Discussion
Well for one thing when it sheds it down on Tuesday and by dawn 90% of Blue Sud is under water if you're an ACO camper it's tough luck really.
If you're in the SpeedChills private area though they have pump lorry running circuits all day Wed., sucking up 70,000L per-trip then at the end of his shift they send someone out to buy 3 quiet 12,000L/hr pumps and run then through the night so while it may have been a little squidgy under foot for the Thursday arrivals at least they weren't paddling while putting their tents up.

Houx site stood up to the rain pretty good, we arrived Monday, and through the night the rain was biblical. We bought some cheap tarpaulin from leroy merlin's and used it for a walkway on our pitch as it was getting pretty muddy underfoot. the roadway on our approach to our pitch was full of tree roots which kept the mud away, I did notice some of the lanes were getting pretty muddy by Thursday.
I'm thinking of going with speed chills private camping next year as I wont have a car big enough to haul all the gear down. Whats peoples experience with them. Particularly interested what the meals were like and how easy it is to get in and out the site in the car (Blue Sud). thanks

We were with speedchills BSJ. Toilets and showers were being cleaned regularly. Own loo roll was not necessary. Food and drink was expensive as it was anywhere else, however we found the food to be a lot better than the anything else around us, although 26euro for a sunday roast was a bit OTT so we skipped that.

Used SpeedChills a few times now (basically whenever I get my act together and book before they have sold out) and would deffinetly recommend them, especially Bleu Sud. The whole BS site isn't very big and so the SC area isn't a huge, impersonal area like some. They had a different company doing the catering this year and while tasty with bigger portion sizes than in the past the price had also gone up.
Access is really good, well compared to a lot of sites at least. If you're not rushing to leave on Sunday they open the little back road up that leads towards the SuperU in Arnage so we were on the ring road in about 5min leaving about an hour after the end of the race.
We have used Speed Chills twice at Blue Sud and would always use them again - the food was different this year as they had external caterers and it was really good - two main courses to choose from and 2 courses and nice breakfast - a bit toppy on price but we paid up front so got a discount and when you bear in mind no need for trips to supermarket, no cooking in the rain and no washing up - worth every penny.
They did a great job on the campsite to get it dry - we got there Thursday lunch time and thought there was no chance of some pitches being used, but they used the pumps and in the end it was ok. Really friendly team as well - we think it is worth every penny and no euro pop in tenst next door till 5am!!!
We used Travel destinations at Porsche Curves and liked them also - great position just a fag to walk back and forth but really good for popping up to see the racing for 30 minutes
For us, Speed Chills every time - thanks guys, yu were excellent

Yeah, another shout out for Speedchills at Bleu Sud. They put in an epic effort to ensure that everybody got usable camp space and it was quite a contrast to see how anybody in the adjoining ACO space was just left to fend for themselves. Plenty of ACO pitches there were still underwater as we left yesterday.
Also bonus points to the guy from Speedchills, who went out with a metal mug and dug a drainage channel out of the massive lake that had formed on the access road to clear it.
