Used Rear Brake Discs Wanted
Discussion
new ones weren't that expensive? I got some in the group buy.
I think CL sell them for £200 for the pair?

On the grounds they rarely need replacing, would it be a false economy to fit used?

Thanks again Steve, but I've just discovered that RG are doing their own version of the rear disc for £114 each, as well as an OEM disc for £205 each. Unfortunately they are drilled but I'm just going to have to put up with that.Drop me a line via pm to new email and we can figure something out,

Go in with your eyes open on this mate. I had these drilled ones fitted and they are great however... what RG don't tell you is that this disc does not have the handbrake adjuster drilled! Luckily for me I wasn't fitting myself and car was with Topcats Racing so they sorted (charging for the extra procedure in the process) it has left me very annoyed with RG for NEVER stating that fact anywhere!! But they are great and I wanted drilled rears. As a result I have the old as spare or a rainy day.
Hope this info is of use mate.
Yes correct for those.
I made the point to call them up and as I was about to rant the response was less than good. It was simply TVR parts are all random we don't have the time to alter each part. I then said you could make it clear to us buyers as had I fitted myself I would have been screwed. ... the response was "it's a fairly simply mod" seeing I wasn't going to get too much further I've decided not to use them for other things in future unless it will be overly beneficial to me!

Thanks for the heads up, much appreciated.Although useful, the lack of access to the adjuster is not a massive problem, especially with new discs. Might become more irritating as they age, because a ridge will develop making it awkward to adjust before fitting.

Is it such a big deal to drill a couple of 12mm holes?...
Not if you have a way of balancing the discs afterwards.Twinkam said:
I would question that it would have any noticeable effect that close to the hub centre. What extra did they charge you?
I agree, but after my recent experience of new front discs that were not balanced due to a manufacturing fault, I wouldn't take the chance.I think the premium referred to is the difference in cost between OEM and RG - about £80 a disc.
