Is it only me that hates the sodding, feckin, handbrake on the DB9 ?
Today my car went to a MD and had new rear pads and pads for handbrake.
Got the car delivered back to my workplace.....all good.
30 minutes later got in car to drive away and noticed the h/brake lever was down, pleased about that...drove off.
THEN moments later the H/brake warning light came on ....had to drive for 100 yards to find a safe place to park up.
Now I never use the h/brake cos it's always a PITA,,,so i consulted the manual.
It took me 5 minutes to get the sodding thing released and for the warning light to go out.
END OF RANT.....
Question....by driving 100 yards with the warning light on have I caused any damage ?

My V8V used to do that ALOT!! when it happened to mine the brake was actually OFF.. just the sensor thought it was on - little wiggle sometimes.. to a little lift/drop used to sort - BUT sometime was a st - fetched blood on the knuckles a few times in frustration :-/
Dealer sorted a few times but always came back to haunt me.. hated the thing

DBS - never use it - put it in park and leave the handbrake alone! I presume its still the same PITA.

So yes.. bloody hate it

I've probably done about 3 miles with the handbrake light on over the course of the last year and my service was just done with the handbrake given the all clear.

I have to agree with you it's a PITA, I never use it, I leave the car in park, I believe the gearbox locks, same as in my X5, it has the same gearbox, the car won't move.... Simples

Steve try using the foot brake instead of the handbrake to slow the car down. You'll notice the difference. I
would not expect to ever have to change the handbrake pads. I only rarely apply it and then only to keep all the parts free.
If you do actually use the foot brake and your pads have worn down there is something wrong. Better to take it to a garage that understands these things and doesn't just try and rip you off.

Don't the hand brake pads activate with traction control ?
This is from a man with zero technical knowledge but think it's been mentioned before smile

I'm not sure if you're joshing me....I don't use the handbrake to slow down...I've bought a nice Polish lad who runs in front of the Aston to do that.
i never use the handbrake but on the last two annual services the two separate garages,an Indie and a MD, both told me the rear pads and handbrake pads would need attention.
As I only do about 23 miles a year I left it till now.

Just for the record....I suppose you're all wondering whether I'm an Inner or an Outer.
Well after following all the debates and reading extensive academic research..
I'm voting for XXXXX...the thing that swung it for me was that the women in the XXXXX campaign have the bigger boobies.

It's a fair comment mate. I would keep well away from NPE forum. Thank God for Murph and Zod otherwise civil war would be on the cards !!!
