Hi all. Anyone any idea with this problem? The car won't lock. Double beep of horn. However it does lock with the button in the car.

I've a gut feeling it's something to do with the filler cap lock as this isn't located anymore (been broken off). Is there anyway to make the car think this is locked? It's definitely not the doors or boot or bonnet.

Doing my head in not being able to lock the car!

Double beep means an alarm fault.

I can only lock it with the key as the remote stopped working. Do you think it's related to that then if it's an alarm fault?

If the alarm light in the car keeps flashing twice a second it's a alarm fault.

Like others have offered, there's a security system fault.

Could be a number of things. A tech with a proper Porsche diagnostics computer can query the security module for any error codes and probably home in on the problem pretty quickly.

In my experience it can be a door lock assembly but other symptoms should be present, like a window not dropping when the door is opened or worse going up again after the door is open. Doors locking on their own then again after pushing the dash unlock button was another symptom when what proved to be a bad passenger (right hand side) door lock assembly was bad.

But in your car's case it could be a door latch switch, a door lock switch, or possibly some other switch.

Never had a problem with this but many have. Check the cabin carpets, under the seats, along the door bottoms for moisture. If a body water drain gets blocked water from rain or even washing can collect and overflow into the cabin. The security module is located in a particularly vulnerable location -- under one of the seats at the lowest spot in the cabin. If the door bottom is damp that's likely a door membrane. The door card can be removed and the membrane can be resealed or replaced. (In my Boxster's case one was replaced the other resealed.)

Even if you find the cabin free of any moisture sign keep the body water drains free of trash.
