Time from production to delivery?

Hi all,
I have a new Boxster on order that was originally due at the OPC on 1st July with the build having finished on 10 June.I'm now told its due during the second week of July or even later.

This seems a long time to me between build and delivery and I'm a bit concerned that something may be wrong with the car that is being sorted.

So what is the usual period from build to delivery and does what I've been told sound ok?

Ask OPC for build sheet which shows estimated dates for the production stages against actuals
I'm sure there will be nothing wrong other than date changes

There are currently some delays with certain models due to a lack of PCM parts caused by an earthquake in Japan earlier this year. Consequently some cars are stuck in a compound in Germany awaiting the parts and could be delayed by a month or 2. Dealers are being honest about this so would be surprised if this was affecting you but it could be worth asking.

I was told this morning that the original date is still showing on the system but they are expecting it to drift a couple of weeks due to a big batch of cars due through and they are checking whether mine is one of the affected ones.This sounds like it could be something to do with the component shortage referred to above.

I'd be gutted if it does turn out to be a month or two delay but I suppose there's no way of knowing at this stage.

I wish that there was some way to track the car's progress as at least then I'd know what to expect - good or bad.

I've just seen on a Macan forum that there is about an 8 week delay due to PCM supply issues with cars still being built and left at the port or in a compound at the factory with the PCM missing which is then fitted before shipping.It was mentioned on there that all models are affected and that the OPC will have a list.

They also say that a few weeks of production was affected and that builds are continuing and will continue for unaffected cars with those affected being dealt with as a separate issue.

I don't know how much if any of this is correct but I've put a call into my OPC and I'm awaiting a response.At the moment given the dates mentioned in the thread and the info I've been given so far I think that mine is affected.

A two month delay or more is not good news,but of additional concern is the thought of the car being left outside in a compound for a couple of months and then the PCM being bolted in out of the normal production run.
