Hi all,

This week I got let behind the doors of "Classic" Team Lotus. I was very lucky to meet Clive and the team, who let me get a few photos of the iconic machinery they maintain - both for themselves and well-heeled privateers around the world.

I've put the full gallery on my new facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/JayEmmonCars/

But here are a couple of snaps for your viewing pleasure:

Nice pictures but as I don't do Facebook I won't be able to see most of them.

Eric

I will be posting more here as I go through them. I am also planning to film at Team Lotus soon, and will be putting that on my YouTube channel (www.jayemm.com) - that will be visible to everyone when it is done.

Very nice, but #29 is a 25, not a 49!

Fantastic. Whats the significance of the painted stripes on the brake disc? Temperature sensitive paint?

Yup, the paint burns off at certain temperatures and they adjust ducting as required.

Is the yellow car a Seven?

Do you have a full shot of it?

It's an Eleven. Unfortunately there was one car parked next to it that I wasn't allowed to get a photo of and my camera/lens combo that I had to hand prevented me getting a decent "full" shot without getting the other car in.

Here are a couple of other shots though.

Please tell me I'm seeing this right - the copper/hide hammer, needed to knock the spinners off, also acts as the T-bolt to hold the spare wheel in? That is genius.

Aha - no wonder it looked like a Seven. The Eleven and Seven were very similar - apart from the streamlined body fitted to the Eleven.

You can't just throw that in causally! Go on, what's the story...

There was a Type 72 being repaired after a crash at the Monaco historic. To be honest in it's state you wouldn't recognise it - not because it was badly damaged, but just it had been stripped down to the cockpit.

Nice pictures, as usual. CTL are always worth a visit and are very welcoming towards guests.

I love that place. Clive is a lovely chap, as is everyone else on the team, and the chance to talk to the old engineers is great. As well as the cars, they have great stuff such as old blueprints, timing sheets from the pits etc.

Katsu Kubotas car he crashed in qualifying at Tabac Monaco. In the paddock afterwards the front was hidden by a blanket.

There is now a video I did at Classic Team Lotus, interviewing Clive Chapman, available on YouTube. I can't link to it here but if you search "An Introduction to Classic Team Lotus" on YouTube, it should appear.
