Odd Dartford Crossing Penalty Charge
Discussion
So, I'm confused.
I tried to book the Dartford Crossing on Wednesday for the trip to Le Mans this year. The online portal would not accept my booking so I called and was informed there was a penalty charge outstanding against my car and another one that was with a debt agency for collection.
I paid the penalty charge outstanding and, on my return from Le Mans started to look into the one out for debt collection. Having not received any letters regarding the charges I called the Dartford Crossing number again and managed to get my penalty reference number and the phone number to the debt collection agency. This is where it got odd.
I called the debt collection agency and they have no record of my penalty notice, there's nothing outstanding against my name, my registration plate or my address. I called the Dartford Crossing number to confirm the debt agency as I know they use a few... So:

- Did they log the wrong debt agency on my record and does anyone know who else they use so I can start ringing around?
- Does it take a few days/weeks for the file to move to the debt agency
Some points:
- The car was registered to my UK address whilst I lived in Europe for 11 months up until last week (car now registered to new UK address)
- No post regarding this, or any other charge was received to that address before mid-May this year
- I have no way of getting to the address for the next 2 weeks to check

I can read it, I don't wear glasses and have good vision. I just didn't see the point of it being in tiny font when it is fairly relevant to what was being discussed. Even if it wasn't relevant I don't know why you would ever want to put it in tiny font! The car was registered to my UK address whilst I lived in Europe for 11 months up until last week (car now registered to new UK address)

I didn't realise you had to book a crossing, I thought you just drove over or under and made sure you paid by midnight the next day.I tried to book the Dartford Crossing on Wednesday for the trip to Le Mans this year. Didn't realise that, how far ahead can you pay?
My brother prepaid for a skiing trip last January, but had to return via a different ferry crossing, so didn't use the return trip. How long does the prepayment last, and can you transfer it to a new vehicle if you have since sold the last one?
