Black with Black, 03 car, 36,000 miles, no PCM or Sat Nav but around £38,000?

i would seriously consider having a cayenne without PCM. IMO you will suffer when you try and sell it. Its not necessarily the sat-nav itself, but the dashboard looks very strange with a standard cd-tuner.
They fill the space with shelves and cubby holes?

The prices are coming down very slowly, and it wont be long before you get an "S" with PCM for £38k. Try the OPC's in Scotland, I got my Cayenne in Glasgow for maybe £5k less than the same car at Hafield OPC!!

Thanks for that Guy,

I'll do as you said - how have you found the Cayenne S? Do you find yourself hankering after the extra shove of the Turbo?

Well put it this way, my previous car was a boxster 2.5, and i have hardly missed it (though might do in the summer )

It actually has the same performance on paper as the boxster and is more than adequate for raising a few smiles every time you do put your foot down. Its equally good for poodling around town or cruising at motorway speed.

The Cayenne is no sports car as we all know, so is the Turbo overkill? who wants to do 0-60 in a 2 tonne beast after all!?

DASHBOARD LOOKS STRANGE! Anyone willing to put up with the fugly exterior of a Cayanne is unlikley to question the design sensibility of the dashboard. Surely the Sat Nav is there to make sure mummy can find the way home after collecting her darling sprogs from school...

kamal, good point.i need a good looking dash to take my mind off the trout pout on the front end

i'm sure that the thread has been done to death, but I am genuinely interested in what you would buy in my position. We are a couple 32 and 33 years old, with a 5 month old baby who had to move from the boxster (obviously). There is very little choice out there, other than a plethora of saloons and estates, so I think Porsche did a great thing commercially, but I would never defend the KNs looks! I will have the new beemer M5 one day maybe?

It's all in the eye of the beholder, as they say. I was thinking of getting an X5 for family as kids are now huuuge, got nagged into going to look at a Cayenne. Wifey and both kids thought it looked much nicer than the BMW, and we all thought the interior was a much nicer place, more of a quality feel about it.

Is it an option to keep the boxter and get a cheap 2nd car estate? ie Saab 95 estate with high miles. It may just equate to the same cost as the hit from dealers and on sale if you went for the cn

Too late! that was plan A, I bought a really nice used Lexus rx300 for £23k, good miles, colour, extras etc and kept the boxster. Then 6 weeks after the baby was born, it occurred to me that we had not driven the boxster once. So i sold it for £16.5k on Ebay!

I then had the Lexus only for a few more weeks and decided that it was too humdrum, So OPC glasgow took it in part-ex. We took some pain on the px price as you can imagine

All in all it was a costly mistake, but with the new 987 on the way and the insurance renewal coming up, I had to out the boxster, I just wish that i hadnt got involved with the Lexus.

So this is why I think the Cayenne fills a gap in the market.

The perfect solution!

Saying that-I have no issues with 4x4s per se...why not look at the Range Rover (or SPORT), Toureg or the new M class or put an order in for the new Audi Q7. Even Porsche recognises that the design is poor-hence an early facelift.

Kamal,

I was told buy my local OPC that the pictures in the press recently were mistaken for a facelift, but were just a new Turbo KN witha disguise on. I appreciate this sounds a tall story but they were adament that the KN has 6 years lifespan until a significant change is made to its looks.

Perhaps owners could tape their's up in the same way so that I dont have to close my eyes when one passess the other way...its getting dangerous!
