Not me I hasten to add! and I certainly don't condone his actions but one of my 'current' staff has been caught at the above speed on the A316 just as the M3 finishes and the limit drops from 70 ot 50.

It seems they are going ot persevere with Speeding as opposed to Reckless Driving so what's he likely to get? I'm sure a ban is inevitable!

Depending on previous, would expect a 56 day ban and a large fine, if points already on the licence (6+) then they may just impose 6 points and a large fine as he would then get a six month ban on Totting.

Perhaps as his boss you should write in and suggest that if he is banned the entire firm will close as a result and you need the magistrates home address so the resultant unemployed people know where those to blame live.

Nothing wrong with 115 in a 50, a lot wrong with little swines attacking the elderly for money and getting holidays as a result.

Like the italians, we should be appreciating their speed and grace, the Bib stopping them only for loving strokes. Art is art.

As mad as that's going to look in court you could well be right depending on road/surroundings/conditions etc. I have a 50 near me that most people exceed, followed by a forty that everyone seems to keep to.

So one out of two speed limits is well set, then, if it is in line with what the majority of drivers think is a reasonable speed. That's better than most areas now!

The road heading north out of Warwick is currently NSL. It has a few commercial premises along it -- garden centre, restaurant, horse-riding centre, etc. Most of the day nothing much is coming and going from these places. Occasionally there is, and you have to slow down/stop. Is it dangerous? Not if you're alert. But what are people clamouring for now? Yes, a 40 limit. Speed limits are being imposed in lieu of letting people think for themselves. Perhaps because thinking for yourself is inherently dangerous.... to the wellbeing of the government.

Quite so.

There's a 40 where I have been known (only to me) to pull 115.....

It's an extensive area of open countryside, flat and exposed, so good, long visibility and no traffic at night.

Only reason for the 40 is the green we-hate-your-cars-so-bugger-off dominated council.

My blood ran cold when I read this : Peter Ward, please tell me you're not talking about the Warwick Road up to Knowle? That is one of my favourite roads, have had many an awesome drive down there.... last time I was back in the Mids I had a wonderful midnight drive, crisp nighttime air, wonderful corners, great straight - swift but safe. 40 limit? Why don't we just go and kill ourselves now?

No, I'm not aware that that road (A4177?) is under consideration for a lower limit at present, though they have recently imposed a 40 limit through Hatton (reasonably since it has been (over)developed into a small town). The one I mean is the one exiting Warwick to the north towards Kenilworth and the A46 junction at Leek Wootton.
