The old thorny question over track tyres arises ...

Has anyone used these Kumho tyres on an Ultima ? If so give me your opinion, they are road legal e marked and £220 each for a 335/30 18, I fancy a set to try

I've got these tyres front and back, and in the limited track time I had found the grip to be excellent, but they are rather soft when warm and probably won't last more than a season. Couldn't find a 245 for the front at the time so used a 225/40 which is just ok for the rim.

I Know Pee has these on his rears, and was impressed with them at a Bedford test day. But he hasn't realy driven the alternatives, so hard to say.....

Kuhmo UK quoted me £130 + VAT for the 225/40ZR18 and £205 + vat for the rears, but they only had the rears in Medium hardness, while the fronts they could do in a hard compound as well...

Thought I could save myself a trip, so I asked the local dealers... you can just image what they wanted to charge me!!! looks like a trip to see Kumho after all...

Any comments on what the wet traction is like?

(NZ is frequently wet, rather like here really...!)

Can't comment directly on this model tire. But, I wouldn't hesitate to try them.

After using BF Goodrich, Bridgestones, and a couple of others, I tried some Kumho ECSTA MX in a 285-40/17 for my 4400 lb 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS. They work great. On the track, they are a little softer (wear quicker) and seem to fade a little more quickly if you get them too hot. But, for the $$$, they are a good value. Not quite as good in the wet as the Bridgestones (RE-730), but they aren't made any longer.

I have been looking for an alternate set in the right size. Kumho might be the answer.

I've just fitted a pair on the rear of mine, with Corsa "C" on the front which i fitted towards the end of last season, haven't tried the combination on a track yet but all looks promising for next week!
