Another CD Writing Problem

Following your advice, i have replaced the CD-RW drive and proved that the old one was buggered.............well I think so anyway.
I have managed to write to disc etc which is what I couldn't do before. I put some photos on to a disc, and then tried to call them up again. As it does the computer opens them in windows picture viewer, and the dialogue box comes up saying previewing, and then says 'Drawing Failed'!
If I try to open it with Elements it says that the file may be truncated etc?
In Explorer it clearly shows each photo in the bottom left hand corner, so it is there.
