I have all my accounts set up with text alerts, received a couple of balance alerts as normal this morning along with another on the same text page stating my debit card had been temporarily suspended, followed by a link which i was asked to click. Obviously I didn't click the link but gessed it would take me to a page where I am asked to log in to my account, stopped in my local branch on way home from work to inform them of said text and to check my debit card status and for them to forward on all details to their fraud department. Now as this phishing text has seemingly piggybacked on to the normal text alerts I'm guessing there will be a few people losing money after they have clicked the link and logged in!

They've been having troubles with their text alerts recently.i had similar but it was down to their systems not anything sinister.

Employee at work approached me about this today saying Barclays text him and asked him to phone them on a certain number.

I told him to check the number against the one on his debit card. It was the same.

Guess the fraudsters are working out how to subvert the two-factor & alert systems.
