Planning a trip to Croatia in June. Honda Hornet and Kawasaki 1200R. Actually my Mother and her partner are going, not me.
Has anyone else been and do you have any tips for them?
Thanks

I'd be interested in this also.
We are going down to Dubrovnik in August. Been trying to figure out wether coming back is better to go round Bosnia or (my plan) straight through.

To answer the question. Been to Zagreb four years ago, lovely place, friendly people. I would find somewhere to stay with a garage though (just in case).

Coast road from Split down to Dubrovnik is very scenic but be ultra carefull, the drivers are mental and the roads can be a bit sketchy in parts. Sudden downpours late in the summer can be very heavy. Scenery in Bosnia can be stunning as can the total lack of driving skills of some of the locals, if you do it just take it easy, it may look like great hooning country at the time but disaster awaits round many a bend.

Agree with previous poster - my step dad is croatian so we have a house near Split airport, at a place called Trogir. This is right on the coast road between Split and Sibenik, and that whole coast road is breath taking.

I'd suggest if you are heading between Split and either Ljublana or Zagreb, you check out a route that includes a stop off at Plitvica national park. It's full of lakes and forest and one of the most beautiful places i have ever been (and i've been around).

Bear in mind that kids on 50's at 12 years old are screaming down those roads with no numberplates, insurance, helmets (!), etc.

Oh, and the weather is best in May/June or September/October. July and August tend to mean mid 30's during the day and high 20's at night. Sticky....

Sounds very close to what I was planning.... We are heading from Ljubljana to Dubrovnik (coast road as much as possible) but having an overnight near Trogir, just can't find anyone there who answers emails (probably too early in the year). A few nights in Dubrovnik then up to Zagreb for a few then on to Prague.

So far everything is organised except for Trogir area as mentioned. Anybody know any good hotels/B&B in the area.

Cheers (sorry for the hijack)

Just a few km's before Trogir is a little place called Marina, where the road hits the coast again after crossing inland at the peninsula.

Also, where my folks' place is there is a huge international complex where i have seen germans, brits, and plenty of dutch too. It's in a place called Vranjica. The hotel is called Medena.

Have a look at this site for some ideas, and look for "Marina", "Seget Vranjica", and "Trogir".

From the Mum on Hornet mentioned in first email! Thanks for all your replies. 4 of us going over for 3 weeks in June possibly down through Prague from Zeebrugge! Hoping June will be a bit cooler having travelled round Europe early July in heatwaves for last 2 years! We don't normally book accommodation as normally ok to find B & Bs prior to school hols. Presumably Croatia has plenty of B & Bs? Are there any problems finding accommodation near Prague too?

Istria is best (peninsula at the top) as its green and not too hot. The road to Dubrovnik from the north is incredible and dangerous (lots of lorries, diesel, etc).
