It isn't necessarily free but you could try searching the electoral roll.

You can search a name in association with other names (eg spouse, partner, offspring).

Here's one way in.

Get them to lie down again, the go round with marker pen

It's amazing what you can find my a bit of stalking, do they use Instagram, forums, gumtree faceboometc

Do you have any info on them at all like a mobile number

I tracked someone down once via old gumtree adverts with a map on the ad

It depends on the scale of what you're doing. Businesses and government authorities use Experian, which traces people through credit and banking activity, and Locta, which uses local authority registration.

http://www.experian.co.uk/consumer-information/aut...

http://www.magnetsolutions.co.uk/StaticPage/207/wh...

The more canny people who want to avoid taking responsibility for their debts just drop off the radar by not engaging with banking or local authority activity.

Experian can throw up an address someone is associated with but doesn't necessarily live at any more. A parent's address they used to set up a bank account or an address they used to live at but no longer do.

Search a name using Locta and you'll get every person registered with a local authority who has that name, so mind you don't chase after someone else with the same name as the person you're after. If you have a National Insurance Number, that's more foolproof.

Have they been cast in bronze?

If so, crayon and wax paper. Got a cracking trace of Bede when I was on a school trip once.

Not legally.

Send a letter (if you are sure there is a redirect in place) from a trusted 3rd party/friend to try and broker a conversation?
