Bought a new car - Octavia vRS
Discussion
I've recently become the owner of a very nice silver 2013 Octavia vRS Combi. No fussy PCP, PCH or any other kind of lease just a wedge of savings and a bit of a bank loan.
The car's a lovely thing, it has the Black Pack, giving a bit more of a purposeful look. It goes like hell. I have the 220 HP petrol version with a DSG box. I've played with the launch control function a couple of times, it wheelspins like crazy of course as the traction control is switched off. It's comfortable and has a lot of toys to play with. Columbus Nav/info is really good.
I've got tickets to go to GTI International on Sunday and a pass for a Skoda club display. It's quite a distance to drive up from Cornwall but the car is such a pleasure to drive I don't really mind putting the miles in.

I've owned both the first and second generation of Octavia vRS. If this continues the tradition, then it'll be a great car. My only worry about Skoda is that they aren't the bargains they used to be. I remember paying £14k for my first Octavia vRS brand new from Claybank Skoda in Eccles. It had parking sensors and "Black Magic" paint. The list price on these new ones is considerably more than that!
Lovely car, I considered one of these but struggled to find the spec I wanted and they weren't quite big enough. I did find a Superb with the same engine but sold before I had chance to view. In the end managed to find a very rare Mondeo with 240bhp instead. Do love the Octavia VRS' though, great all rounders.

Thread hijack, sorry: What's that Mondeo like? I'm shopping around for an S-Max at the moment, and I could go for a 240PS one with PowerShift, or look around for an older 2.5T (I've had one previously and loved it).http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
Don't want to hijack a Skoda thread with a Ford, link above to my Mondeo though, same gearbox/engine as the S Max you're looking at.
