Just had the car back following a full De-cat with JP manifolds and 'Y' connector. Oh boy what a noise!!!!!! Akin to a Rolls Royce Merlin/WW2 Spitfire!!!!!Anyone considering doing this, Just do it! Find a friendly MOT man and go for it, the sound is out of this world not to mention the extra torque and throttle response which is immediately evident. Straight-forward instal too, no ECU mods or anything just re-connect the Lambda sensors and away you go.Awsome!!

welcome aboard! if you can still hear me

if you have the centre box done as well you will hit 128db (with a std car around 98db!!!)

no one beleives me...untill they hear it

nice one.

not sure about the power thing tho, possibly LOST a couple of BHP, but what you are feeling if the free reving of the engine no longer being stiffled by the cats (which are usually damged anyway!). improves throttle response and mid range power.

How much louder if you change the manifolds/Y but keep the rest of the system standard?

I know what you mean about the pure raw noise - just wait till you go through some tunnels and see the startled looks you get from other drivers!!

I've also done away with the pre-cats and main cat,as well as having the box sleeved, using the earlier version of JP's manifolds and Y piece - as I don't need to be able to replace the cat
(I must admit though, mine 'popped and banged like a good un' until Mark Adams worked his magic on it to smooth things out)

I've had mine for two years now and you can't fault the quality of JP's work - you won't be disappointed!
Enjoy!!

The job lot came to 275.00 as these were previously used as part of a group test.

Know what you're saying about the power, but......I quote.....

'We ran them on a 5.0 TVR engine.......stock from the factory...they produced a much cleaner burn throughout the range and gained around 10lb/ft of torque from 3000 rpm up to 5,500 rpm...this translates to between 4 and 10 BHP depending on where you measure it but the torque gains were most impressive. We tested against a de-catted TVR exhaust as well as Zertec, Spinning wheel and Peninsula versions and these came out best on almost all tests.'

I'll second that (extra y-piece with cat, not only required for MOT, but sanity on long journeys). In awe of people who can stand completely 'de-restricted' noise - I can't have mispent my youth correctly ;-(

He would have to be a VERY friendlly MOT man.

I'm just knocking out the pre cats (but already have straight through sports exhaust. Those two and the LS6 should be like a low flying Spitfire!
