Chassis Rails...!
Discussion
Just a thought i'm sure someone has probably thought of this before.
At present I have the engine out on my 500 and have a good view of the top of the main chassis rails.
On inspection there is an amount of rust but only in patches and looks to be surface, concentrated around where the manifolds run.
I'm replacing the heat shield material(other thread).
Now I'm wondering, would the heat from the manifolds be a factor in the deterioration of the chassis rails as it is only on the top nearest the manifolds.
Having rails shot blasted and then covered in POR15 would it be an advantage to cover these rails after in the heat barrier wrap you can use on hoses and manifolds or would this only trap the moisture.
Your thoughts...
