On my new bike, I must have got the setup slightly off on the seat.

need to bring it forwards on the rails and seat post down a smidge

I was having to push back on the seat to get comfy = too high and not on my arse bones.

and now have two nice raw chafed spots of skin.

Once they have healed up and I've done the setup alterations I'm keep to avoid it every again.

what do you guys/gals use and any special advice?

and yes, ow fk, it hurts a bit.

Apply sudocrem now, it'll be healed by the morning. I also use it as a barrier cream on all day rides. Saddle perfectly level for me.

I use udderly Smooth. Never used anything else. Its £8 for 225 Oz from Wiggle. Does the job. On the rare occasion I run out, I use body glide, which is an anti chaff balm, and actually lasts a bit longer than chamois cream.

If your saddle height and SB are correct, chafing should not be an issue unless you are putting in mega miles. Assos is quite good for those times.

Me too, plus Sudocream when things have gotten a bit sore on a long ride.

My undercarriage has toughened up a hell of a lot over the last 2 years though, so not quite as important these days.

Use it on every ride although don't need it anywhere near as much as I used to now I got a thinner saddle and got it adjusted properly. Still get some chafing on rides 3 hours+ though but nothing too bad.

Assos for my longer rides but have some Muc-off stuff I use for work commuting. Found it better to use it every ride after not bothering on the commutes and ending up getting gradually sore.

How long is your ride?

I don't use anything on my 70 minute daily commute, but use Asos rides of more than 3 hours.

I've never used any creams, even on century rides. Should I be using it? I thought it was only used for multiple day events such as stage races.

Never used it and wondered what I was missing so I purchased some last year and have used it once. I never noticed any difference and even my wife never noticed my man bit looking any better... Anyone wanting to buy some chamois creme?

Chamois cream, like insurance, is only worth it once you find you need it and don't have it!

Personally, consecutive longer duration rides can leave me a bit delicate so I tend to use it for anything longer than 60 mins.

Assos for reliability.

Rapha for smelly goodness.

Sudocrem for rides over 100 miles.

Never used the "posh" stuff, but "bum cream" has never failed me since i was an infant =)
