Where to find a Renault 5
Discussion
I've been hankering after a Renault 5 for ages, and have finally convinced myself it makes sense! The Campus model though, which most survivors seem to be, is pretty sparse and doesn't really appeal too much. I like the idea of driving a Monaco, GTX or a GTL much more. I've been checking CarandClassic and eBay religiously, but finding a decent high spec version is proving difficult, so I thought I'd ask here in case anyone knows of anywhere else I should be searching?

Mk1 or Mk2? Most Mk2 are Campus because the Campus was the run-out, alongside the Clio.Got any objection to LHD? LeBonCoin is a good source if not.

I wouldn't buy in France. Used car prices there are horrifying. The problem is that they don't have our car culture so they keep them for ever and there is no oversupply of used cars. Nothing and I mean nothing that goes and has a CT is under 1k Eu.
Not quite true - https://www.leboncoin.fr/voitures/offres/alsace/oc...€1k will get you a 1-owner 65k mile tidy-looking high-spec 3dr '88 R5.

But while used cars are definitely generally higher priced than here, the reason is simpler than that. There's much more cross-border traffic in used cars in LHD countries. A new car might start its life in Germany, then head off to Italy or Spain, before finishing up in Eastern Europe.

Afriend of mine has 2 renault 5 gordini,s that he might sell.pm me and i can give you his number.
I was looking to spend 2-4K max, I think Gordinis might be a little out of my price range! I'd rather buy a pristine Mk 2 than a cheap mk 1 that needs loads of work. This looks the right cash, 50k miles http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C764216
You may have already seen it if you check the Carandclassic site

Shush, don't show the others! That's exactly what I had in mind actually. I've been in touch with the seller already, just getting some more info before deciding whether to make the trip to Wales. You may have already seen it if you check the Carandclassic site
Don't know about auto R5's but the auto box in the R25 was pretty ropey. From memory there was an ecu issue that made it very expensive to fix if it went (happened to a friend's - was left with just first and second gears and the part was more expensive than the car was worth at the time).
