TTS - remap - odd noise around 3800/4200 rpm
Discussion
Hi
I bought a superchips remap, installed it, and went for a little drive to test it out. Let the car get warm and then proceeded to see how it felt / performed in different gears.
At around 3800>4200 theres a noise that i think could be boost leak, or possibly clutch slipping. Around this range it feels like a flat spot as the torque sort of tails off, but theres definitely a noise that could be the whimpering of the dv not holding boost, but cant be sure.
Is the PCV an issue on the tts and would i be best to get a new one fitted or get a blanking plate i've read about?
Unfortunately, i cant left brake and accelerate in 4th to see if it is the clutch as it kills the power...
Thanks for your input.

If it was clutch slip, I'd expect it to start when peak boost is reached and the torque really starts to ramp up. If you put it in 4th from a low speed and put your foot to the floor, that should induce slip if there is any.
Other than that, without hearing the noise, it's difficult to gauge what it is although, I would expect it to more likely be the DV as opposed to the PCV valve.

And this is why it's worth spending the extra to go to a tuner with their own rolling road, who specialise in your type of car.
The tuner I have used for my 3 Audis always carried out a boost leak test, health check and measurement of "before" power before going anywhere near the ECU.
