Newly Single - What to do?
Discussion
I am newly single having just ended a 3 year relationship and am at a bit of a loose end with what to do with my spare time. Weekday evenings I can fill with the gym or meeting friends for dinner etc but it's more the weekends that I think I am going to struggle with.
I could jump on the bike and go out for a cycle, meet friends, watch the football, play golf, take the car for a spin etc but they don't feel like activities that make the most of being youngish (30), fit and healthy.
I went on a weekend away last year with the boys to climb snowdon which was great fun and it's those sort of things that i want to do. When I accomplish something I feel like i've invested in myself and that's a good feeling.
Has anyone got any suggestions? Based in Oxfordshire but distance isn't too much of a problem as I have 5pm friday to 9am Monday spare!

Beat me to it have a w**k.

Seriously though - sounds like joining some activity clubs or something might be in order? Unless you have a bunch of like minded mates who can make similar regular weekend plans (bit difficult if any are in relationships).

Most are in relationships, but theres a few that aren't under the thumb so can probably drag them away on an activity weekend or two. I'll have a look at clubs around here, but not sure a club will be my sort of thing.
Well not really a club so much as an organisation that arranges things. My ex used to go on holidays to places that were a bit different with total strangers, and running weekends with the same - all organised by companies that specialise in that kind of thing. Jonboy_t said:
Take up kite boarding or similar. Loads of open places near you to do it, you sound like you're into your fitness and it needs that (in good winds!) and you can waste/spend the cash you save from being single on constantly upgrading equipment!
That's not a bad idea. I'll look in to it around here.Thought about learning to row, paddle board or train for sprint tri's too. All those would get me away from home and keep me active.

Depends what clubs really. If you're already in to cycling and climbing finding some local clubs is a great way to meet new people who have the same interests as you, and get out on some trips/events/races/etc. I met my wife through a Jui Jitsu club, we'll both be spending most of Saturday with mates from our running club and local Parkrun, and next weekend I'm off on a trip with a bunch of mates from a motorcycle owners forum.
