'Our Little Secret' Rajasthani Laal Maas.
Sadly it seems like they are discontinuing it, so grab it while you can if you have a Tesco nearby!
Anyone else found any pre made curry sauces that are particularly good?

Get yourself a masala dabba stocked with the appropriate spices. They make it so easy to knock up a decent curry.
Fry cumin/mustard seeds/onions/garlic,ginger, unleash the remaining dabba spices, add tinned tomatoe and you have a healthy tasty curry sauce.
Makes you realise how much sugar and cr$p most of the jar sauces have in them.

I like Patak's Madras paste.
Edit: - I made a prawn curry using the above last night. I put about half a jar into a blender with a tin of tomatoes, a bit of water, coriander stalks, garlic, chillies and ginger. Once whizzed up, I plopped it into a pan to cook out and added a bit of vinegar, then the prawns. After two minutes, they're cooked. I squeezed a bit of lemon juice in, added the coriander leaves and served with a microwaved packet of puy lentils.
Feeds four easily.

Not a curry as such, but "Uncle Bens Szechuan" is quite nice.
I previously worked for a commany who produced Sharwoods sauces. Believe it or not, the thing which stops mass produced sauces tasting authentic is the amount of preservatives added (typically Acetic Acid". Other than that, from the onion base (which is made separately) through to the spices, the ingredients are as they should be.

I should point out that I am not remotely averse to cooking my own from scratch, just sometimes after a long day having a jar sauce comes in handy when I'm feeling lazy.
To me this one was a lot tastier and less bland than most I've had
They are getting very close to a restaurant. The aldi extra special (or whatever it's called), are very good, I've only tried korma, friends who are curry monsters have tried the other hotter ones. You have to follow the instructions though and add the spice cap at the right time. I was very surprised, also the aldi naans were fantastic, and were silly cheap. These are great, in our humble opinion....

Spice Tailor kits are really very good - comparable I'd say to restaurant quality. For reference, I grew up in West London with loads of Indian friend's mums cooking for me!
The Southern pepper curry is very complex, and stupidly tasty.
Come as a whole spice pouch, a base sauce and then a finishing sauce. Takes as long to make as the microwave does rice...

WAs in my local Tesco yesterday. Don't think they are dropping them, they are just in the Eide (spelling ?) sale. Do agree, they are good for jar sauces.http://m.tesco.com/h5/groceries/r/www.tesco.com/gr...

jar of sauce with packet of dry spices on the lid. It's not as good as the Dopiaza from our local restaurant which has much better spectrum of flavour but as someone said after a hard day it's a shortcut to something quite satisfying.
