With yet another incident with a Jet2 aircraft from Glasgow to Palma had to make an emergency landing due to a pitch control issue would it be fair to say a lot is to do with the age of the fleet?

It seems every summer there are lots of Jet2 incidents in the papers with far less said about other carriers i.e Ryanair

I've heard they have ordered 27 new aircraft.
Edit - http://www.travelweekly.co.uk/articles/56465/jet2-...

I live right by LBA and whenever there is a 'go around' situation for bad weather, Jet2 circle for ages before having a couple of attempts at landing. Ryanair are just straight in....no messing.

Maybe Jet2 just carry enough fuel not to "have" to land on the first attempt?

(This post is based on internet rumours and slightly tongue in cheek!)

hehe Yes I think they have to land first time or fear the wrath of Mr O'Leary. "That aircraft has to be turned round in 15 minutes."

I work in ATC it's not my experience that Jet2 have an abnormal number of emergencies. I worked a Norwegian aircraft last week that returned to Gatwick with a trim issue having held to burn fuel for an hour over the channel, not seen it mentioned anywhere. I reckon 90% of diversions don't garner any media attention, slow news day.

was thinking more the reporting thereof ... i.e. one or two journos decide 'Jet 2 are always having emergencies' so report it ... and it snowballs from there ... also other LoCos have other things to make the press with on a slow news day e.g. ryan air and some money saving idea or flippant comment taken as gospel ...

O'Leary is a publicity genius. Shame he's such a c*** with it, or appears to be.
