I'm going to change my speakers. What are the favourites at the minute? Bearing in mind I have no rear speakers.

Sextons in Portsmouth just upgraded my car audio and did a very neat job. I only had the factory front speakers but adding rears has made a huge difference to the sound with my existing Alpine head unit.

So 4x Audison APX 6.5 concentric drivers
Did a good job cutting into the rear bulkhead to mount the new rears
Fitted new amplified aerial in the boot
Aux in cable fitted in glove box to take my FLAC media player

Cost about £470 fitted. The drivers are about £100 a pair and are really good for the money. The old Pioneer were just tinny with no bass whereas with 4 of these I get an enveloping rich sound with powerful bass and plenty of detail without being harsh.

Sextons have done quite a lot of TVR's so are familiar which is why I used them.

Thanks for that. I don't really want to have speakers in the back as the car has just been recarpeted, but I'll certainly check the Audisons out. Thought I'd made another dead end thread biggrin

I've put JL Audio TR650 in my doors - old Pioneers sounded terrible. Slight fibreglass/dremel surgery needed - if you do enlarge the speaker hole, cover the interior as much as possible as the fibreglass dust gets everywhere! Head unit is an Alpine with a half decent on board power output.
The smaller TR600 is a direct fit - a good thread which I used is here
Sound is much improved and sounds great at standstill with the engine off but to be honest it gets completely lost at speed with the roof off. Think the only way to get decent sound that'll cope with speed is to back the door speakers up with some chunky rear speakers or maybe one of those underseat subwoofers to take the low freq load off the door units.

Thanks Andy. I'll give the JL's consideration as well.
