What is this? Boot buzzing

Keep getting a buzzing sound from behind passenger in boot, only thing I can see is what looks like a small filter coming from filler kneck.

One of those "lived with it for years" jobs, but got to solve it now.

Fuel pump I would imagine.

No that's mounted on the chassis. This is just in-line with no power to it and plumbed into filler kneck

It is the fuel tank vent 'roll over' valve.
The noise will be the tank venting through the valve to the carbon canister mounted up front beside the radiator.
Perhaps a new valve would be quieter.

Because it was buzzing I was convinced it was something powered. I'll order a new one.

...or live with it, £60+ vat etc. what noise? lol

Ian,
Just loosen the fuel filler cap and it should make a whooshing then your noise will go away. Don't tighten it fully in future.
