Steering wheels Moto Lita

I've just seem a Chim with a lovely Moto Lita Classic wooden riveted steering wheel,
What boss do I need, what's the column off and has anyone tried such a wheel on their Chim.
I'm going back to the BBWF in the morning so I'll take a pic and ask the owner but I think it looks ace.
Any ideas ?

I'm not good on these computer thingies or I'd post a pic of the sort I'm talking about,
Something like you'd see in an Mbg or E Type,
Big sliver centre section and three spokes in a Y configuration, rivets and wood,,
Crome boss or polished Alley maybe!
My S2 had one that was fitted at the factory and I loved the thin and smooth feel to it.
I didn't think it would suit the Chimaera but after seeing the one this evening I'm liking it.
I even sat in the car and its position and feel was very good.
I can see myself, roof off on some coast road with the sun on my face acting like a movie star from a time gone by.
I'll try and find the car again and take closer attention.

I know what Wheel you mean and yes they are really good looking depending on interior colour and dash type ie wood/carbon I think, I did consider changing my wheel at one time but glad now I didnt,,,

I had a wooden steering wheel on a Volvo 1800S many years ago, I found that it was unpleasantly hard, not in the slightest bit tactile. I would go for thicker rim, softer surface and smaller diameter.

I personally need more time to decide, I think it looks good but I have had a car with a wooden wheel and it can be harsh.
I grew up around old Jags so I like thin steering wheels,, at 150 mph I'm not so sure though!
If I could get a close match as the colour of my dash I'd be rather into it maybe!

The way I look at it the car rattles over bumps anyway,
I'm just trying to become more discerning
Tell you what it is, I have a competitive streak and often have to stop myself getting the eye of a tiger and fighting off all these young guns wanting races, it does annoy me so maybe if these youths see my classic wooden wheel they'll think (old mans car) and show some respect.
The Chimaera is fast becoming a classic in its own right and it will get spanked by a chipped Seat or Golf, maybe I'm just moving away from outright pace and just want a car that appeals on many levels as classic cars do.
I love classic cars and have since a lad, I've had Jags and MBG's and the Tvr is about the same as the MBG, in fact that had better suspension !
The final thing is, around 93/94 I sat in a Chimaera and just thrilled at its classic looks,, I remember thinking how fantastic it was and how more manufacturers should go retro, the retro bike scene exploded and that just cemented my feelings for cars of a curtain age 1958-1966 sort of era, I'm never going to afford an E Type so the Chim is a way to live that dream of classic looks but usable.
Seeing that steering wheel and it not look Micky mouse has surprised me and just shows how good a design the car really is.

Subtle differences?
If you look at my dash layout from the car above with the wooden wheel you'll notice that on my late car the fan on/off button is set slightly to the right of the heat adjuster knobs, then using the stereo or the two air vents below as a reference point then using the centre line of those air vents and drawing a vertical up you'll notice my clock and other dials are also set slightly to the right compared to the car above with the wooden wheel!
I've been driving today and that was my thought Belle' I do tend to lean on the wheel a bit, there's more road vibration than you might think and it will be magnified through the wooden wheel, softened my dampening off a couple of clicks and it was better though.
ive still to email the owner of the car above, might go and see him and see how it feels first.

I can't quite justify it either Mate, the spokes at an upward angle just clashes with the whole thing, but I still like it though

Made to measure so it seemed, but it's when your on a long journey, will the spoke positions hinder your hand position and comfort, will the hard feel of it get on your nerves,
Probably yes to both those things but I have a hanker for such a wheel so will make the effort to at least try it out and give it a fair hearing, it's a style thing more than anything but messing with the driving pleasure is not what I want to do so I need to be careful.
I'll never sell my original wheel so it can soon be reverted back.
I'm also Brassic and all toy funds are spent up so I'll not be doing anything in a hurry.
