Had a look over the steering components on my Cerb as it is feeling a little loose, found that the lower uj bolt had come loose, sorted that out and want to check for free play in the steering rack.
I understand that it has a 19mm lock nut and a 6mm Allen key to adjust it, having undone the 19mm lock nut I find it's seized to the Allen bolt, sadly I can't get it un seized on the car.
If I take the whole locknut and Allen key bolt out is this going to cause me problems?

You'll be fine. 8mm bolts. 13mm socket/spanner.

There is a round plate under it. With a spring and a nylon bush/guide. Whilst it's out put some cv grease in there.

My rack had play as water had some how gotten in the pinion and rack bar and rusted it and worn it out. Grease it up and extend its life.

Have a look at the how to sticky sand you'll find my steering rack strip down. I need to update a few bits on it but there should be a photo of the adjuster.

Thanks for that, good write up which I will be using at the end of summer to rebuild the rack.

After having a look at the photos etc I'm happy taking the adjuster plate off, can I ask how the adjuster works?

Just places pressure on the nylon bush that pushes the rack onto the pinion.

Don't put too much pressure on the pre-load/adjuster as the steering won't return to centre.

I'll make sure I adjust th write up before you strip it as there are a few mistake I made and learnt from.
