996 C4S Cab Project Car?
Discussion
Hi All,
I've sold my immaculate 987 Cayman S and have seen a (potentially) great 2005 996 C4S Cab.
Before I strike a deal I wanted to get some advice on whether I am crazy to embark on this 996, which I can only sum up as a project car.
In short it's the dream car I've always wanted, but needs a lot of TLC i.e. thousands spending on it to put it right and not to mention a full respray and panel alignment from poor previous repair.
I have figures on tyres, service, condensers, RMS, IMS, brake disc/pads etc, etc, etc..
The question: how much should I budget for a full respray, panel alignment, rust spots, etc? My initial thoughts were £3k, but now i'm thinking £5k.
Thanks,
Fresh.

Thanks for the input guys, I really appreciate the feedback, they say love is blind!
Would it make a difference if it was a fully spec'ed "C4S plus" X51, PSE, PCM, Factory spec'ed GT3 Alloys etc, etc.. with only 45K on the clock, last owner had it (neglected it) for almost 10 yrs and (although limited) was always serviced at OPC.
I think its too much of a rare car to breakup or overlook.
And I've had it through the 111 @ OPC so I know what I'm up against, apart from the bodywork bit.. hence my initial post.

You could make a really good go of it. Spec the paint and interior to your tastes, details and mechanical spec. I doubt there's money to be made because a proper repaint that will look good in 5 years time will cost a lot. But you haven't asked about value, so if this is an opportunity make a car in need of tlc into "your" car, and if you're realistic about the cost, go for it.
Whether it's on the register or not it'll always be "repaired" though, and in my experience repairs are never the same as original.
But if you can give this car a full going over, with your eyes open and the result is what you want, go for it.
