I've got one for a few days while my Disco Sport it in getting a couple of things fixed.
A brand new Ingenium SE.
I really like it. Really like it.
I asked the dealer if I could have one rather than a like for like Discovery so yesterday this one was delivered with just 12 miles on the clock.
It's far too small for our needs and lacks some of the equipment of my DS. It's got the same Ingenium engine and I guess the same ZF nine-speeder. It feels light and very nimble.
The front seats are far more comfortable than my DS - which is perfectly comfortable - the seat heaters are better. Leather and grim all feel softer.
There's really nothing I don't like about it. I imagine the petrol version must be quite fun.
It's only it's compact size that's the drawback. But that's just my needs.
I didn't "get" them or see why they are so popular. That was part of my reasoning for borrowing one. A car the size of a normal hatchback but with decent 4WD capability.
I've been on Autotrader trying to work out a man maths argument for buying an additional car that I have no need for.
I really don't want to give it back.

Back on topic, I seriously looked at the DS in the run up to its launch and eventual launch. I couldn't reconcile the price being asked with the quality of the interior particularly when compared to the Evoque at similar money.
What I wanted was the bigger space of the DS with the quality of the Evoque, in the end I went with the latest Touareg, lots of space, nice interior and bigger V6 lump.

Well the interior quality is the main reason my DS is back with Land Rover.
The leather is baggy. Really not good enough comparing it the my MY13 Freelander 2 or my 15 year old MGF for that matter.
They were apparently going to build an Evoque XL, but I guess the DS took over that role.

Due to pressure from Mrs AD my plans to get another Merc E-Class Estate were scuppered by her demand for an Evoque. Despite the threat to my masculinity we went ahead with an SE Tech. It is blimmin' brilliant as a daily driver. Good m/way cruiser. Loves cruising at 90mph on the smooth French autoroutes. Surprisingly nimble handling, no detectable body roll, excellent cabin quality, easy peasy to park in multi-storey NCP's etc. Sat nav is a bit crap but does the job. Does the full Land Rover off road thing (we were offered a free LR Experience session). What's not to like?

We've still got it and I really am getting quite fond of it.
Done about 100 motorway miles in it plus family chores.
If it had a bigger boot....
Incidentally the car I have is an SE. It has no sat nav. Why does it have twin 'shark fin' ariels?
They would be for the Land Rover Connected option. It links to Land Rover Control to report whereabouts of vehicle, theft alert, and feed info to the LandRove Remote app which records journey data (distance, route, average speed, MPG also to receive a 3G signal to turn a phone into a wifi hot spot for passengers.Done about 100 motorway miles in it plus family chores.
