Mis-firing at high revs?
Discussion
As it has been a nice day today I took the Chim for a trip to the car boot and clear the pipes out
This is one of the first times I have had to give it a run (Only owned it a week). Anyhoo, in first gear at full tilt it seems to die at the top end of revs, is this due to some sort of limiter? it still goes like the clappers but just wondered. Maybe it does in all gears who knows not being brave enough.

How much did you get for it?

Yep, "They all do that sir" in every gear to!
It's the rev limiter, kicks in and I mean KICKS in, at around 6000 rpm. Well it did on mine.
No real need to take it that high in the rev range I max mine at around 5500 as it’s mostly noise
after that. The rev limiter varies but typically either 5,600 rpm for a 4.0 cat or 6,200 rpm for a 4.0 precat. These are big lazy engines that don't appreciate being revved hard and you should stay well away from the rev limiter. There is little performance advantage to taking it over 5000 rpm, and wear and tear on the engine increases dramatically beyond this point.
By the way these cars have a 'hard' rev limiter which cuts the power completely, not a 'soft' limiter like you'll find on many more modern cars. It is very abrupt when it cuts in. If yours felt more like a misfire or occured at lower rpm (below say 5500 rpm) then I suspect it actually was a misfire.

Phew, Thanks guys. I thought it did have one. Its just the ground was a little bit slippy
and hit the limiter before I know what happened.
Still its nice to have a dry mouth, papatations and the shakes with the comforting thought of not having a heart attack
(must be usual TVR driving mode)
