Brake caliper paint/refurb
Discussion
Been thinking for a while about having my calipers painted and wondered if anyone has any recommendations as to where to get them done (and pics of yours). I'm in North Hampshire, something local would be great.
Also, red or yellow? My Cerb is black with black interior and silver spiders. I'm leaning towards red

www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk made a fantastic job of refurbishing my brake calipers.
Red all day long, but then it's done lots. I'd say go lime green. Have a look at the guys below!

Having had a look on http://www.brakecaliperspecialists.uk I think I'm going to get the DIY kit and do them myself. The calipers don't need a refurb, they're fine , I just fancy them painted. The instructions detail how to do it with the calipers in situ. Anyone done this? How did they turn out?
Anyone got pics of their coloured calipers on sliver spiders?

I've used the Foliatec kits in the past with good results. As with all painting a thorough prep job is a must and therefore it's best to take the calipers off. Also when it comes to the lettering I find that the letters in relief are best painted with a thinned paint. This allows the paint to find it's own level and the edge of the letter leaving a very neat finish with the minimum of brush strokes. When tackling the embossed letters I have used a paint pen to good effect. The solid nib means you have no wayward bristles to contend with and you get a nice neat finish. You have to be patient and have steady hand but you will get a good result.

I removed the calipers, cleaned them thoroughly, mirror polished the raised lettering, carefully hand painted them then replace the Allen bolts with stainless items. ....
It's your life but I would be inclined to use high-tensile steel rather than stainless on Caliper Bolts.

Used stainless bolts in calipers on both cars & bikes for the last 30 odd years without issue.
If you do the sums, a M10 A4-80 has a tensile strength of 800N/mm² which equates to around 6½ tons!!!
I'm happy enough knowing there is over 25 tons holding my calipers together.
