Buying guide - advice required

My wife is looking to buy a Chimaera, so today we popped down to TVR at Arkley, Barnet.
They had quite a number in good condition etc.
Questions:
Is the TVR place at Barnet a good source, good reputation? What about using them for servicing?
Can you point me to a good source of info for all the data on Chimaeras?
Her budget is up to the lower 20K's.
The one she saw and liked was a 4.5 etc. it was in a nice blue with portland interior. It also had the alloy dash, which I was told was put in by the prev. owner. Where does the alloy dash come from - is it a TVR option?
Anyway - all info welcome.

Search the forums. There's more data than you need. Look at the classifieds too. For written info, see Steve Heath publications.

TVE did brushed & "crinkly option.

Good source of info would be the bible (mentioned by Mr Heath already) and these forums - both were invaluable in helping me to buy mine.
For her budget she'll easily get a late model (2000 on), giving her pick of the bunch. Mine has a stainless steel dash that was actually made by the previous owner (an engineer) and looks the nuts, though many purists would argue the wood dash is better. TVR did do a turned ally dash as an option, the dash in the one she saw could be either but as long as its in good condition and been well fitted then I wouldn't worry about its origins.
I've had mine up to about 100 so far (only had it 2 weeks), and it felt very stable. Wheel was a bit wobbly, but thats possibly one of the weights slipping.
Put it this way - do 100mph in a Eurobox and you'll feel fine. Do 100mph in a TVR and you'll be totally concentrating on everything happening - secure in the knowledge that you've got another 60mph on the clock!

Also, how stable is the Chimaera at high speeds?

Chimaeras are surprisingly reliable, as long as they are not left for long periods of time unused they are great sportscars.
As for stability the cars are quite happy to sit at 130mph all day long although post 145mph with the roof off can be a little uneasy!
