..can you be driving briskly on the M1 in Derbyshire, when another TVR draws along side & engages you in conversation.."are you on the way to Le Mans...?"

..can you break down, and fellas digging a hole on the other side of the road come & cone you off, and when they have to go before you can, donate the cones! (Oh, and people in the office overlooking bring you out a cup of tea & a biscuit)

..does the traffic cop pull up along side, opens the window & shouts well spotted. "pardon?" "I didn't see you go round the roundabout, but I heard you. Nice day for it though"

..and all the , reminds you why you love em!

Ah..Parrot of Doom & Scaredbuthappy, you have all this to look forward to!

heh, mine will never break down!

*touchs floorboards*

Actually I pulled into a petrol station on the A628 between Sheffield and Manchester last night, popped the boot open, and noticed a fella in a Transit pickup looking out of his window back at me.

"ane oondi ar!"

"what?"

"great sounding car!"

"oh ta!"

"Not quite a 911 is it?"

"No, much better than that!"

*grins on both sides*

He then reversed back to be alongside the car! There then followed a quick conversation about the usual stuff, before I headed in to pay for the fuel. I came back out, and he said

"I'm waiting here just so I can hear you start it up"

"Blimey, ok then!"

And off I shoot, into the night. Hes probably about the 10th person to openly talk about and admire the car in not even 2 weeks of ownership.

I had 2 lads in a crapped out Nova the first weekend I had the top down. Blacked out windows, white paint, big white alloys, sellotaped on exhaust. Rolled up behind me in a queue of traffic. Through their (illegal) dark windscreen, I could make out one of them peering forward to see what model my car was. Then I heard the driver revving his engine, and saw them both watching.

I threw about 120dB and 1000 cubic metres of exhaust fumes into their faces, and they absolutely pissed themselves with laughter. I was laughing my head off too. It was one of those really nice moments where they knew their car was basically rubbish, but they still loved all things automotive, and enjoyed the din. Nice to know that some boy racers appreciate the finer things in life.

After short ownership I find people tend to try and get as close to your ae as poss so they can hear that V8 sound (I did before I owned one).
So perhaps rear end shunt could be more of a worry than breakdown

I fired up the Esprit and the 390 together today and let them warm up. Then I let rip with the 390's pipe, 5500 rpm's-worth of fuel duty up in smoke
Inside the garage it was deafening; next thing I knew there was a gang of young lads tripping over themselves at the end of the drive, wanting to know what beastliness had rent the peace of Mother's Day asunder so.

I was sat at a set of lights recently when a guy pulled up along side me and jokingly asked "can I get one of those on Mobility ?"

If you're anything like me, after you've filled up with petrol at the garage and you start the engine in the confines of a petrol station - you'll give it a few more revs than you really need to.

I love going into petrol stations, so many blokes come and have a look at the chim again often waiting for me to start rooster up.
On way back from Harlow on sat in the sleet a van drew up along me whilst on dual(or is that duel)carriageway to have a gander at rooster, very nice feeling!!

Only in a TVR can you...

1) Rag it up a hill at 5500rpm and cause a small landslide.
2) Stop in car park at the top of the hill in the middle of an army firing range and fry the starter motor cable.
3) Wait 90 minutes for the cable to cool down with no joy.
4) Spend 15 minutes explaining to the RAC that no, I didn't have the current postcode or a road name and no I couldn't go and ask someone AS I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE! Dumbass.
5) Return to car after calling RAC to find that it now works perfectly. This is the third time I've cancelled an RAC call because the car fixed itself.

Quietly crept up behind three lads waiting at a junction in a dune buggy - you know, the proper aircooled VW engine slung out the back, fat tyres, etc.

Then blatted the loud pedal.

All three of them leapt about a foot vertically and craned their necks to see what was behind them.

Big thumbs up as I roared past them on the next straight.
Sorry - you had to be there

Even sadder I'm afraid. For some reason I find it impossible to turn the key to start the engine, unless there is somebody else on the forecourt who will hear it
