Over lunch today I 'accidentally' bought an unseen, unregistered R36 Passat wagon with an engine described as 'making a knocking sound'.
I now need to fly for a couple of hours to pick it up and work out how to get it back including an overnight ferry.
Should be a tops weekend. I'll keep you posted.

This is the most PH thing I've done since owning three broken down Alfas.

yes yes 'cool story bro' and all that.

Top job!

99% of the population wouldn't even know what an R36 was, and you've bought one unseen that may be properly broken and is the other side of an overnight ferry.

I assume you require the wagon to fit your massive stones in? hehe

When you say pick it up, do you have a car transporter? What can possibly go, its a Volkswagen.

I'd say if its working its a pretty cool car, there's one near me, a quite recent one, its a very nice.

Great story.

Where's the car? Ireland or somewhere?

Best of luck and as people have said, keep us updated.

I thought I was brave doing something similar with a £900 Passat V5 (went bang after 2 months)

My word, that's quite a machine.

Do you dare to tell us how much this punt has cost (so far!)?

Oooo...looking forward to seeing how this pans out. Funnily enough I've also got a plane journey on Friday to pick up a rare estate that I've yet to see. Mine doesn't have the 'knocking' feature that yours comes with though....smile

Edit: is it this one?

No mention of the knocking sound, but it's the cheapest on here even though it's the newest. And it's in Derry, Northern Ireland. Good luck, Op!

Profile says he's down under, probably in bed by now if he can sleep with all the impending drama.
