The company I work for has been in administration for a couple of months now, supposedly due to a directors dispute as opposed to financial struggles. Business has been trading as normal in that time.

The start of this week, we have been forced to work from home though... And I've come across this:

https://www.thegazette.co.uk/notice/2574042/

My boss assures me my job is safe. My dad isn't so sure.

What do you think?

I think that, if your company has been in administration for a couple of months, you should have started looking for a job a couple of months ago.

Is your job safe? Who knows, but it does no harm to be prepared. If you find something better then great, if you don't then at least you are front of the queue if it does all go belly up.........

Your dad has your best interests at heart, whereas your boss just wants to keep you from leaving before the company folds. And that's a when, not an if.

As above, you should have been looking for a new job two months ago, but better late than never.

Have you read the Administrators' proposals https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/0196455...

If not, they will be of great interest to you!

Christ. Talk about airing your dirty laundry in public. That reads like something out of a crappy Channel 5 matinee.

Sounds like the directors are having a bit of a spat. If they give it all back to the guy that founded the company it might work out.

The statement's got some juicy bits too ... http://www.courtofrecord.org.uk/archive/Frame/Fram...

The 'cult' leader in question (the bloke who your boss thinks his dad has given everything to) sends some interesting emails out ... http://www.courtofrecord.org.uk/gicor/record/US/fa...

This doesn't sound like your average administration - the company is making good money and the administrators see no need to wind up if the business carries on as it is.

However, what I can see happening is that the father may not be suitable to be a director - cult stuff aside, if he stole gold from the company safe he's in trouble.

What a mess I feel very sorry for the son, would agree that the company does appear to be sound if issues were solved.

I've seen some over the years but this is a cracker - and unfortunate for all concerned.
I've also seen plenty where the administrators have had the wool pulled over their eyes - the truth is somewhat different.

Might it be foreseeable that the Company could continue trading for a while longer to try and get to the bottom of the situation (or as much as possible), keep the creditors happy along the way, but then end with the son seizing control in return for his debt as some sort of a pre-pack type deal into a new company.

As usual there's only one winner - and I went into the poor relation side of the profession.

Read page 8 of that document OP.

It refers to your boss, so looks very much like his father is involved with this cult. How bizarre.

I think your new full-time occupation should be looking for a new job. Good luck!

Either:

a) get another job
b) you and the 24 other employees should walk out and start a new business

Feel bad for the OP, but this cult has some interesting ideas. Where do I sign up?

Keep working, so long as your wages are coming in, and keep looking for something else.

Keep your options open.

Your boss needs you all to keep the business going not because your jobs are 'safe' because he can't be sure of this at this time.

Sorry all, forgot I posted this - my mind has been preoccupied recently.

Yes - its a ridiculously juicy story, the cult, the missing gold, the fight between father and son which ended up in the father being arrested... It could be made into a Noir flick!

It's all spiralled out of control!

With regards to me looking for a new job months ago, given how profitable we are I didn't feel it would be necessary, though as time goes on I am getting increasingly worried, I have been assured my job is safe but I don't know now. I have other things to fall back on though - so looking for a new job isn't essential yet - I will always have a source of income available to get me by.

To those that asked, yes I work for VoIPon and deal with the VoIP side of the business.

Also, don't feel bad for the son who is owed £330k, he was a , he'd turn up to work once a month and then take all the profits. Worst boss I've ever had!
