My wife is small, I am not - we move the seat a lot between us, and have to adjust the harness a lot.

The caterham harness on the car has the buckles at about the tillet seat holes when my wife is driving with the seat forwards, and so it's almost impossible to get the buckle to work properly to pull tight. They seems pretty jammed in position. Thy do move when one is not in the seat, but when in there, the angle is all wrong to pull them taut. They are 15 years old.

Would new belts be easier to adjust? Have looked at belts that adjust from the buckle, which would solve it.

Anything I can do to make the current situation work much more effectively before I spend more cash, however?

I got new belts for my old 7 but to be honest, the holes in the Tilletts still make adjustment a pain!

I feel your pain. I find it all but impossible to adjust the lap straps when belted in and find it all but impossible to fasten the belt if I adjust them before getting in!

The harness should be easy to adjust once seated. Grab the loose end and pull it tight - lap belts first then shoulders. Not sure why you need to mess around near the Tillet hole..? The lap belts can be a little stiff because they have springs in the adjuster buckles however by wiggling the loose end up and down as you pull it makes it much easier.

A problem you may face (as I do) is that the harness wont go tight enough. I can pull mine tight until the padding reaches the buckle but it is still not quite tight enough for me.

I don't have the Tillet seats but found I had a similar problem with the ordinary leather ones, largely because my arse was too large to allow me to adjust the pull down lap strap.

It was made a lot easier by changing the belts for ones that you pulled up to adjust, the reverse of the Caterham belt. had them made by Titon. Works a lot easier now, sit, grip & pull to tighten.

Caterham belts are the pull-up type. At least any from the last 10 years anyway. If your have pull-down to tighten then you have the wrong harness.
