Roadside Recover Story
Discussion
Been with the RAC since 2001 using the auto-renewal system. Got the full package (Home start, Onward Travel, Legal assistance etc. etc.) Renewal notice comes in at £249.99 for me and the wife so I went to the RAC website as a new customer - same package, like for like in at £198.99.
Went on to the 'Moneysupermarket' comparison website and input the same package that I already had which presented a number of companies, many of which I had never heard of.
Green flag however offered the identical package for £92.96 so I gave them a call to check that I wasn't missing anything. For me and the wife in ANY car less than 16 years old with everything apart from European travel came in at £89.69.
I called the RAC to cancel and the operator asked if I would like them to see if they could bring their renewal quote down..... Sorry but you have been ripping me off for years...

Many of us will have experienced the same, every year I had the same with AA who I've been with for 100 years, every year I negotiated a better deal.
Last year I'd enough fecking about, told AA to stick it,and like you I went with Green Flag.
Come to renew this year and price had gone up so I looked on the web and returned to AA where ,as a "new" customer I got the best deal.
This practice of large annual increases of premiums is not reserved just for car breakdown services but applies across the board of all utilities.

I considered one of these kind of accounts a few years ago, but concluded that I rarely buy anything - including services such as these - simply because they're cheap. I generally choose the one that best serves my needs, and if I need to pay extra for that then so be it. FULL UK & European Breakdown and Recovery Assistance for all your cars and any you are traveling in.

I have breakdown cover via my insurers anyway, travel insurance is very affordable and phone insurance isn't something I want or need.

So true. Brit Gas Homecare gave me a comedy renewal quote so went elsewhere. Come the following year they were far more competitive so went back to them. It just cost them about £600 this month with a big fix - karma Last year I'd enough fecking about, told AA to stick it,and like you I went with Green Flag.
