stop/prevent stone ships?

morning all,
should hopefully be getting my chim back this week, I have had wheels re-done {back to silver} were black, and had the front /bonnet all repaired and resprayed.
Although i cant wait to see her back ready for the summer,

What are the best products on the market to protect from stone chips..either sprays..covers..as now she has been done im going to be a little paranoid and protective.

Always a problem have had several cars and all have suffered. 3M do a product which was on my first Porsche which seemed to work but the cost gets to a point where a front end respray every couple of years is cheaper. Amourfend I think is the 3M product

I've got Arourfend on my Chimaera. (It came with it on) I swing from hating it, to thinking it's a good idea & back again.

There's something about it that's like leaving the polythene on the seats of your new car. On the whole it's a bit naff.

what polish/wax products are the best ie to protect it and i guess may help in the wearing proces..

I doubt any waxes or polishes would make the slightest bit of difference tbh. Best option is a clear plastic bra.

Either that, or replace the front end with metalwork

Suspect from your profile, its not an every day car. I've tried armorfend and had it taken off. IMHO it spoils the look of the car, and stones usually find a part of the car thats unprotected so you still have the chips.....

Keeping on top of the chips on a car that doesn't do a million miles a year isn't too hard and then a repaint of the impacted area every 3 or 4 years would keep your P&J looking pristine.

many thanks, its not an everyday car,mostly when its dry ! and guess im being over protective with the thing, but as ive just had it done, i just want to do everything to preserve it as best i can.

Agree that the odd coating of wax won't do much against a stone travelling at xxMPH. However, it's better than nothing, and will at least provide some protection.

A mate of mine had an MGF, which he used to drive down a skinny country road to get to work. After a couple of weeks he had to T-Cut out a number of surface scratches (from branches etc).

He used to put Autoglym super resin polish and extra gloss protection on every couple of weeks, which seemed to protect the car from the usual light scratches.

That said, he might just have driven it more carefully, knowing that it had just been polished

Ill ask just for front end+bonnet for you and ill let you know.
I have had other bits done as well {whole bonnet+front end/side chips {grill etc and also the wheels re-paired and re sprayed-

although I was quoted approx £1,500 to have the whole car resprayed.{ wheels not included}

It is someone i have always gone to near Bromley , who speacialises in porsche audi s bmw s etc. he done has done my cars through the years, the work is always immaculate, and the price is better than anyone.
He has just completed my friends Porsche Speedster, it looks new!.

Hi All,

Car is now done, the wheel refurb+sprayed balanced £60 a wheel.

Many other parts were done but cost of having Bonnet etc done would cost you approx £ 300 upwards.
This could go either way depending. Mine was a bit more but mine was damaged.
