Friends from school/college/uni
Discussion
Last night I went round a friends for a house party, we haven't seen each other since November other than bumping into each other at work due to work/home life, which is the longest we've gone since knowing each other.
It will be nine years in September since we first met at college and she is the only friend from there that I still keep in contact with.
Which got me thinking, I don't meet up with anyone I was friends with at school, chat on Facebook every now and then, but that doesn't count.
Does anyone keep in contact with friends from school/college/uni? Others there said it was unsual for us to be friends since we left college for so long ago.

I am rubbish at keeping in touch with people, moved away from school area early on and haven't kept in touch with any of them, university was the same as moved to the other end of the country. Some people at work have grown up with colleagues at work through school etc, just seems insular to me and never moving on, maybe they are happy where they are and don't want to move ever though.
My best friend I met at nursery school when we were 3, 50 yrs ago. We also went to primary and secondary together. We both have another close friend from secondary school so we met him when we were 11. I have a female friend from childhood, a daughter of a family friend, so I suppose we met about aged 5, and am also close friends with 2 other women who lived down my best friend's road as kids, so since about 6 or 7.
Sure - still see friends from school and Uni. Just went to the wedding of a school friend I've known for 36 years, although there was no-one else from school there.
I married someone from University, so can't really avoid her...
Even though your lives take very different paths and you might not see each other for years it doesn't matter. Having those old memories and shared experiences is pretty special. I've kept in touch with friends from every workplace too - one ended up investing in my current firm at a critical time, so you never know when or how your friends might support you!

I'm also a nightmare at keeping in touch with people.
I've got two very good friends that I've know since about 11 through growing up (now 32) in the same street and going to school, the one I was best man at his wedding. Everyone else I wouldn't really class as friends but people I just know/aqaintances who I can go and have a beer or hang out with but can't fully 100% be myself around them. I moved to London on my own in my early 20's so lost touch with most of the people I knew, then after that I moved to Norway. Met some nice people in London who at the time you always say you'll stay in touch with but you never do.

School no, Uni I keep in touch with an old flatmate and a couple of people from my course at least once a year, even went fora trip abroad with one just this year. Generally I think we put in equal effort though it's interesting that there's some friendships where I'm putting in the effort to keep in touch and vice versa. Also interesting the way they wax and wane over the years.
A number of my closest friends are from my school years despite us now being spread far and wide across the globe. We may not speak every day but the bonds of friendship are still strong and conversations seem to pick up where they left off be it a day, a week or a year since the last chat. How long have I known them for? My longest friendships are from when I started primary school, over 36 yrs ago now....
I left school in 1999, however stayed at the school for sixth form. I have a very large group of people I know from school, with a group within that being my close friends. The close friends tend to meet up regularly, and very occasionally will go out in our home town (I don't live there, but a couple of my close friends still do) where we bump into many others we know.
As school and sixth-form were the same place, I don't have separate college friends. However I went to Uni from 2001 to 2004 and have 5-6 very good friends from there too. Still meet up with a few of them every so often, but that's harder than my friends from home. My home town is an hour away, whereas my Uni friends are scattered around everywhere.

Didn't really like him much in Comp but he's turned into a pretty decent guy.

One of my mates from school moved to Malta couple of years ago.
I couldn't read his writing for his address there.
I don't have an email address for him either.
It's a small country. Use his full name and any part of his address and it will probably get there; if it gets to the right town then it will reach him.I couldn't read his writing for his address there.

Otherwise, if you scan his address in, then print it out, the local post might do better. Or post it on here, the PH detectives will find him in minutes.
I'm 34 and have a group of 8 friends who I see regularly. We have a whatsapp group, but always go to a test match in the summer and also do a xmas night away every year. Also try and do another 3 or 4 all dayers if we can. Out of that group there is 2 i see at least once a week and all from year 7 at secondary school.
There is also a large number in see regularly from secondary school who i play football with once a week which is good.

I have a close group of 3 school mates that we speak every week and see probably once a month, except for 1 that lives in Wales.
We've been mates since the early 90's and have had some proper wicked times.
WhatsApp group text makes things easy keeping in touch.
We see most of our other school mates once a year when we throw a big party
