Are brake pads for CARBON CERAMIC DISCS different?

I have an Audi s8 with ceramic brakes. I also have some TRW brake pads that "fit" but it's not perfectly clear if they're compatible. Just wondering what (if any) difference the pad material has?

I recall from my research into buying an S8 with ceramics, that the pads themselves were fairly ordinary. Only the disks were eye watering to replace
